HI Robert , I am at the point of doing what waterway fuels is doing. I am very interested in what you are doing because it may help with my own importation. We are hoping to offer it @ 30cents less than pump price for diesel with full certification. This would be beneficial for all.

A new thread here for some news just surfaced about the opportunity to buy biodiesel.

Hi, Gus, welcome to the forum.
Yes, there has been some activity on this matter and we did buy a load several weeks ago, but somebody or other will be sure to do another trip shortly. I plan to go again in a month or two.
The BD we but from Rutherford is 100% as they don't blend on site. If you wanted a particular blend, your options would be to part-fill a drum with dino-diesel to give your required blend, or buy B100 and blend it into the proportions you want at home.

    Hello guys,

Cameron put me on to the biofuelsforum and I have just joined. Seems the one service station that had Biodiesel in Sydney is now closed. I have just bought a Pug 307 1.6 turbo diesel with the view to running it on biodiesel (at least some day). They tell me B30 is ok and will not void my warranty.

I would be interested in participating in the purchasing group but wondering what % Biodiesel you will be ordering. Also I note that this thread is a couple of weeks old. Any action since the last post?

    Gus

Yeah I though the private area appeared to get a liitle crowded

I never asked to get in as I always planned to go up there with a large enough Quantity of my own to make a trip worth the effort on my own.

I will be happy to provide the day and time I plan to go if people want to come along with me who might only be getting a smaller quanitity

I am still needing to supply enough drums to fill the trailer and tank for the ute

I have organised a few for myself, 12 months ago I could have picked up 50 gratus, if I can get any more in the short term I will advise here. But with this current wetter weather fire operations may be curtailed a bit.

They are also getting a bit scarcer (?) as suppliers are tending to have certified re sealers now and they can refill the drums at pad.

Anyway I would be interested in buying in small bulk, 200/400 litres per time, probably in 44's

Question - I may be able to get access to some 44's that have been used for jet fuel, would these be OK? I understand that they may have a lining of some sort

    Geoff
Geoff, can you direct me to where I can get 4 of this drums? That's about the limit for my trailer for a trip to Rutherford.

Jet fuel (AVTUR, JP1, etc) drums are fine for Biodiesel. That is what I used myself for some time. The AVTUR drums DO have a plastic lining on the inside of the drum as AVTUR is hydroscopic, that is it will absorb atmospheric moisture, and the AVTUR can be contaminated by elements in mild steel. It is because of this lining that drums cannot be returned and reused by the fuel companies. That makes them quite cheap for anyone who wants to use them for Diesel or Biodiesel. Petrol, Methanol, and shellite will dissolve the lining and make the fuel go off. In addition, any residue AVTUR in the drum will blend well with the BD and burn safely in your engine.

If you are on the Mid-North coast, you could easily make your own trips to Rutherford at any time. They will serve the general public, provided it's into bulk drums and cash only. I have sent you a PM.

Yes, everyone has requested to be added to the private area, but then it does not get very private anymore .
Buy seriously, sorry guys I've been insanely busy with work of late and have not really had time to administer this forum properly . A new thread would be the best place to post up plans for the day (I think Gunner's already made one here - oops, that's the private area, I see your point.)
I'll have to think of a better way to sort this out. The private area was just to find a way that a small group of us who had met and could trust each other could organise ourselves. With so many takers, we may have to just sort out the details offline for those of us who actually are ready to commit to this buy this time around.
Maybe the best way for the moment is for serious takers to email (or private message) Gunner and/or myself and we'll make sure that our numbers line up.

    Hi Gunner,

it will be good to connect again.
    I will buy 2 x 200l (with own drums),
and can fit 3 drums in own box trailer if required,
    depending on time of run

$1 litre plus $30 "transportation costs" sounds great
(much cheaper than other recently well-publicised trucking companies)

    cheers,

    Geoff.

I'll add 200l to the bulk buy, and I can bring my drum (in box trailer from Newcastle) & meet at Rutherford, as long as the agreed date fits in.

A lot of people have added requests to be in the "private" area since it was last used for a bulk purchase (including me) so maybe it needs some updating?

Further to my previous post, What do people say to the distribution point also being a social meet and greet? I could really do with a BBQ after a drive to the Hunter!!
