Re: Finally Travelling OZ on SVO
Linoman,
Don't forget to check out the "members sharing oil with traveling members" thread.
Make contact by PM well in advance to get member contact details and availability, then phone a couple of days before arriving in town to set the day and time of your visit.
It worked for us last week.
Drive safe and have a good time.
Regards,

Re: Finally Travelling OZ on SVO
Hi once again another update am currently at Longreach QLD left Surat on to Mitchell then on to Morven to Tambo then Blackall to Barcaldine and now Longreach plenty to do out here. The bus is running great, oil has been of good quality where I have picked it up I ended up with more than I expected so being addicted to oil as I am have put an extra 220 litres on the roof and all my tanks are full I have a hard floor roof so no problems carry it up there but it is a pain getting it up there the shops seem to be quite happy for me to take the oil so that is really good the bus is currently getting 6 litres per 100 ks but have been driving at about 85 some times 95 the flying brick is running just great bye for now Kevin Limoman

Re: Finally Travelling OZ on SVO
Hi all well its taken a bit of time but have now arrived at Winton stayed a while in Longreach then moved on to the Darr river camp for a while then onto Crawford Creek rest area I have been able to get oil in most major town now my filtering system is simply a 25 litre plastic drum with a lower tap I suspend a Woolworths shopping bag into the drum and hold it with a ocky strap set up a portable table next the fuel tank and pour it in, I some times heat the 20litre drums on a gas ring for a while then pour it in. We will duck out to Lark quarry tomorrow and check out the dinosaur foot prints then back into town to the musical fence and the truck museum well thats all for now catch you all again with my next update Kevin Limoman

Re: Finally Travelling OZ on SVO
.Hi craig yes that's correct when its in the tank it goes into a Sherwood stainless steel strainer into a raptor gear pump that has a pressure adjustment on it into a heat exchanger then into a z9 oil filter into a Pollack valve . I have just checked the gps and have travelled 2.400 klms since leaving home I have cleaned the strainer once but have not changed the z9 filter yet and don't expect to for quite a while I usually get some where around the 5000 to 7000 klms before changing . I have a gq patrol at home 4.2 turbo it has currently 420.thousand klms on the speedo 240 thousand of which has been on svo it still has the original injector pump and injectors and runs the same system as my motorhome except for the pump on the patrol I run walbro pump the only issues I have had is the tank has a had a brown film coat the inside of the tank which I have to clean yearly and glow plugs in the gq are replaced approx. every 12 months Kevin Limoman
