  • 20L drums wanted southside of Brisbane

I need a couple or 6 20L drums or a lead on what type of business throws heaps out. Maybe a panel shop for thinners and prepwash. Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Marshal J.

    Hi Marshal,
you are on the right path, try the industrial paint suppliers, the paint suppliers that supply the paint to the panel shops, you'll have to clean some sticky paint out though.
Maybe if you know any house painters or know of any houses being built try asking the painters there or scavange the mini skips.

    Hope this helps

      Marshal

most shops throw the drums out so I'm sure most would be happy to give away. unless you are looking for a drum with a full sized lid that comes off.
In that case either chase a painter or maybe pop over to a scrap metal trader or dumpster dive a bin out the front of a yard.

during the week I went to ABC spares on ipswich road at Rocklea next to Super Amart. out front next door was two bins with lots of 20 litre drums.

Re: 20L drums wanted southside of Brisbane

I have a couple of painters that we use at work, who are going to save some drums, but we are not building any houses at the moment so there's not a lot of painting going on. I've also been asking the truck drivers if they know of anyone who uses them. I drove straight past ABC yesterday, going to Rocklea to pick up some drums but the place was closed. I'm heading to a mates workshop today where I know there is 1 thinners drum and possibly an industrial paint drum with a removable lid, so there's a start for my processor. The agreement I have with my oil source is that the drums have to be clean on the outside and not look like nasty industrial drums. They are also not allowed to be there when the shop is open but that's just a timing issue.
Thanks for the advice and leads guys.

        Cheers,
        Marshal J.

How many how clean and when do you need them?

I have plenty metal or plastic.

          Cheers

Hi Jens, I managed to pick up a couple today and have about 6 more coming next week. Thanks for the offer, but I now have it under control. Thanks to everyone for their input.
