Re: Mazda Bravo / Ford Courier 2.5 Turbodiesel Tips n Tricks

$200. It is from a 2004 model so has extra electronics bolted to it. I can easily remove them and make it work in my Courier.
I am persisting with the original one to see how I go with blends. I would like to get to 70% veggie oil, but I an unsure if this IP will manage that viscosity.

I hope it is just a thing with the old IP Tony and that the new IP will fix it. 70% seems a bit on the thinner side and of course means more misfuel to be collected and filtered.

Strange that the prefilters are filling up each time. Maybe you will get to the light at the end of the tunnel once all the crud passes through.

Did you say it had a pusher pump? If not, Cade was saying it would be easy to fit one under the rear seat on the driver's side. Those cheap ebay Facet pumps seems to be popular.

Just knock up a little bracket first. I made a cross out of two bits of 30mm angle welded together.

A pair of needle nose pliers to pull off the clip holding the fuel hose on to the tank outlet and to fit your own. You have to do that bit by feel unfortunately. if you have the single cab or freestyle cab its a bit easier as there is more clearance than on the dual cab.

I feel that the fuel starvation issue may be related to the small bore fuel lines on the Courier. I will investigate going to 10 mm ID pipe for the fuel supply line.
It will give significantly less restriction to fuel flow then the fuel lines that are fitted as standard.

That should make a difference, it probably has 8mm fuel line now which has an ID of about 6mm. 10mm iD is about 3x the volume. I reckon you are pushing the envelope a little Tony running WVO through a VE pump without a conversion. As you know the Mercs with inline pump will take it easily but I have found my Jackaroo (with VE pump) hates it when I forget to flush.

Tony, I am guessing from your other threads that the Courier is not really suitable as a blending vehicle but rather as a 2 tank system?

Re: Mazda Bravo / Ford Courier 2.5 Turbodiesel Tips n Tricks

OK, The second hand pump (2004) was not suited to the 2000 Courier because of the added electronics. I ended up getting an exchange one fo $1200 and installed it. I also drained the fuel tank and got a half a cup of water out of it. This could have been the cause of my problems.
I am on 100% diesel and have installed a Pollack valve and 5 Litre tank in the engine bay. I am looking at building a Heat Exchanger so I can run 100% veggie in her.
The 5L tank is going to be the veggie tank until I am happy with her operation on veggie, then I will make it the start tank.

                Thanks for your support.

                  Hi All,

Old thread but I know you're pretty active on here Tony,

I'm curious to see how your courier is going down the track, if it's still on veg?

                  I'm running a 2 tank system on a 2004 WLT turbo 4wd courier, 100% WVO.
parallel fuel lines with separate filters for diesel and veg- separate 3 way valves for supply and return lines to allow purge with delay, so no veg goes to diesel tank.
So far a few 1000kms and no issues, haven't been using a pusher pump, I do have a vacuum gauge off a T like you use Tony and it that's been handy to keep an eye on.

Any advice given I imagine you have been going longer term, would appreciate any warnings of longer term issues!

I sold the courier due to issues with the injector pump.
