  • Forum Upgrade March 2022

    Hi Forum Folks.

There's had to be a VERY major forum upgrade. I'd been putting it off for years, but software versions of other systems have meant there was no longer a choice. It's a pretty major jump and many things may not look the same anymore. There may be many features I need to tweak or repalce to get working again. Yes, the theme and look is different too. Please bear with this. I will work on correcting things where I can. If there is anything not working, please let me know.
    Robert.

OK, things are moved to a new server now as well. We're on a whole different version of everything and most of the structure has changed. This means a bunch of stuff like saved attachments and images may not work and a whole bunch of stuff I can't imagine right now. Please bear with it. Feel free to mention anything that doesn't work here and I'll see what I can do. It may take me a while to get things back to normal, but hopefully the essentials should work.
    Robert.

That explains it. I got a new computer this morning and when I logged into this site it looked completely different! I thought it must have been because I was going from Windows XP to Windows 10. Going from 2gb of ram on my old computer to 8gb of ram makes a big difference too.

I've at least now put the logo at the top, so hopefully it looks slightly more familair. I've got fair bit more to do, but it will be done bit by bit. Hopefully everything else can be familiar enough to use for the moment.

Thanks to you Kevin for the server stuff, a largely underappreciated skillset.

Robert. WOW, this is a big improvement! I am still getting the personal settings sorted to my liking. Using a larger font for reading the posts has helped me heaps. Old Eyes!

                          Hi Robert,
I tried to send a message to Tilly with an attachment from my PC. I get an error message:

                          Power Window electrical diagram.png
The attachment storage directory does not exist or is not writable.

I get the same error here.

Can you please see if this can be fixed?

                          Thanks,
                          Tony

                            Hi All,

After the initial push to get the upgrade done, I expected there would be bits not working, so thanks for posting anything you notice. I will make a list and chip away at them:
                            1. Images/Storage issues
                            2. Search function
                            3. SSL errors
I will work on these in the background over the coming days/weeks and I'll post back in here when I make progress,

                            Cheers,

                            Robert

Some progress. I think I have fixed the first 2, but I've spent most of the day working on posible related back-end clean up issues and then only done minor tests on the first 2 issues after this.Click image for larger version

I've uploaded an image to this post (which didn't work before, but does now).

Tony From West Oz, please confirm if this fixes the issue for you too please. I have also rebuilt a whole bunch if indexes including the search index. I've done a few test searches and they seem to be working. I have a little more work to do on item 3, but I think I'm probably the only one that's bothering at the moment.
