    Re: 1st time WVO blending

I still use bog standard rubber fuel hose with WVO (blended with 10-14% ULP).
I have used it for years with no significant degradation.
Biodiesel, though, will degrade the rubber fuel hose rapidly.
  2. Re: Dedicated oil heating element v water heating element

If you are concerned with the water heater element overheating, you could use a "simmerstat" (ie stove element temperature control) to reduce the duty cycle of the element before the thermostat...

    Re: 1st time WVO blending

My veggie oil is long term settled then filtered thru a 10 micron mesh filter (lined with a T shirt material sock), then sits in 20L cubies for months before being put into my fuel tank. There is...

Why not get a few of these prefilters? They can be back flushed with petrol to clean them. They are the prefilter for a Mercedes 300D ('77-'84)
  5. Re: Difference between Biodiesel & Methylated seed oil

Biodiesel does not evaporate as fast as petroleum diesel as it has fewer volatile components.

I did search for making methylated seed oils.
The only information I could locate was:
    "Methylated...
  6. Re: Difference between Biodiesel & Methylated seed oil

Of that I am not sure. Vegetable oils are derived mainly from the seeds of crops (eg Canola, Linseed, Grape seed, etc). Vegetable oils can be esterified to make biodiesel, using methanol and a strong...

    Re: Coking and valve deposits

    Jim,
Water injection is a long established method of a. Increasing engine power and b. Cleaning the combustion chambers of your engine.
I used a switch on the throttle to inject water when at more...

    Re: Coking and valve deposits

    Tilly,
There is not much to compare between the Musso 2.9 and the Ford 7.3.
The Musso has an IDI engine, and Ford 7.3 is a CRD engine, so your example is like comparing a Holden from the 70s with...

    Re: Musso Filter Heater

The fuel lift pump is on the side of the injection pump. Look for 2 fuel lines on the side of the Injection pump.
The Fuse box in the engine bay F2 and F3 are Ign. F2 for Air bag, F3 for ABS.
    As...

    Re: Musso Filter Heater

Consider looping the return line from the filter back into the feed line from the fuel tank. The hot oil will be recirculated back into the filter, picking up more heat from the lift pump.
    The...

    Re: Filtering post dry wash

From expanded diagrams I found, the Injector Pump (IP) looks to be driven by cams on the engine, as such, it looks to be eminently suitable for (heated) straight vegetable oil.
    It is definitely NOT...

what type of injection system does the generator have?
Is it Common Rail, direct injection or indirect injection?
If direct or indirect injection, id the injector pump inline or rotary?

I have seen their trucks in Perth too.
They do not have much of the market here as far as I can see.

    Re: Musso Filter Heater

I thought about this today and if you do not need a lot of heat, then recovering the heat from the return line would help raise the temperature of the oil going to the fuel filter.
    You could use 2...
