    Re: dissolve veg oil gum

Scraping will remove most of it. Caustic will remove the rest.
Take great care when using Caustic Soda, it can cause severe chemical burns. For small splashes on skin rinse the affected area ASAP...
  2. Re: Pump and nozzle suitable for oil delivery

I store my filtered oil in 20 litre HDPE drums.
I use a funnel and heft the drum up to pour the oil into the funnel and thus into the fuel tank.
Because I use a blend, I rinse the funnel out with...

    Robert,
Thanks, I will keep an eye out for any abnormal operation of the forum.

  4. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

The restriction of a short section of smaller bore pipe will not impact on the performance of the fuel system if you are increasing the fuel line ID. The increased fuel delivery pipe ID will reduce...
  5. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

    Answers;
    1. It would be best to have a delay on the return line changeover to diesel to minimise the amount of veggie oil mixing in the diesel tank. That said, you are looking at a small amount of...
  6. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

Today the "new" Musso was missing badly on one pot. When I got it home, I lifted the bonnet to find a cracked injector line for #5 cylinder had sprayed fuel all over the engine. Fortunately, Veggie...
  7. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

My first Musso had that issue also. I just had to park so that I didn't need Reverse to drive away (when engine was cold). Once the transmission was up to temperature it worked well in all gears.
    ...
  8. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

JJ, I think that my budget is the cause of my need to fix vehicles. Being on a tight budget does not allow me to spend up big on the motoring front. I saved some cash from sales of chickens, sheep...
  9. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

    Thanks,
I would appreciate obtaining a replacement return line pressure relief valve. Can I pay you for it? I am happy to pay for the valve and postage and what you may like for the valve also.
    I...
  10. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

If anyone has had this issue with their Musso Automatic transmission and fixed it I would be grateful of any tips you can offer to overcome the transmission issues.
    Thanks in Advance.
  11. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

To get a part from any Dealership you need the VIN. The MB100 Van has a similar engine to the Musso, so I could get a MB100 van VIN to seek the correct part. That will be another avenue to obtain the...
  12. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

    Tilly,
Bosh have the IP serial number as an "Agent Only" line. This means that they are not allowed to supply any part for it. I can only get it from the Ssangyong dealership.
    I have asked another...
  13. Re: Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

Thanks for the photo. Unfortunately that will not work in the Musso / Rexton IP. :(
The attached photos show what it looks like.
The pale green seal appears to be a requirement for this part, in...
  14. Musso / Rexton 2.9L Turbodiesel Injector Pump fault

I have just had the first issue with the engine in my Rexton.
My wife and I were on our way to the pool on Christmas Eve to have a bit of exercise and when I stopped to reverse into the parking bay,...

    Re: Room Temperature Biodiesel process

    Tilly,
Have you actually tried this procedure?
If not, perhaps you can try it yourself, rather than just putting it down as BS.
The only things you could possibly lose are the cost of ingredients...

    Re: MUSSO- blocked fuel line

    Tilly,
did you get a photo of the filter?
I use a prefilter (same as on my old 300D) to catch the worst of the cr@p from the tank.
With my Mercedes cars, there was an initial cleaning of the...

    Re: MUSSO- blocked fuel line

Hi Tilly, you are still kicking and not a COVID statistic yet, I see.
I have had the access to the tank sender open to check the sender low fuel light which was intermittent on my first Musso.
    I...

    Re: diesel bug

Can you use the return line to get fuel to the engine? Swap the fuel delivery and return lines and disconnect the power to the in-tank fuel pump. Install a cheap inline fuel pump and a fuel strainer...

    Room Temperature Biodiesel process

One of our WARFA members is using a room temperature process to make biodiesel.
He demonstrated it a few weeks ago and again last Sunday. It was simple and made good biodiesel in about the same time...

    Re: 1st time WVO blending

I still use bog standard rubber fuel hose with WVO (blended with 10-14% ULP).
I have used it for years with no significant degradation.
Biodiesel, though, will degrade the rubber fuel hose rapidly.
  24. Re: Dedicated oil heating element v water heating element

If you are concerned with the water heater element overheating, you could use a "simmerstat" (ie stove element temperature control) to reduce the duty cycle of the element before the thermostat...

    Re: 1st time WVO blending

My veggie oil is long term settled then filtered thru a 10 micron mesh filter (lined with a T shirt material sock), then sits in 20L cubies for months before being put into my fuel tank. There is...
