    Re: Dry Washing

The success or failure of dry washing has nothing to do with conversion but everything to do with methanol recovery/removal from the bio.
As the ambient temperature varies a lot throughout the year...

    Re: Bioworks Perth Gone Missing

Probably the best place in Perth at the moment for Methanol is RPW Racing in Osborne Park where its about $260/drum. The price you mentioned is an old price and you won't get it for that price...

    Re: buying methanol

Just look up the yellow pages under racing fuels. In my experience racing fuel suppliers always sell methanol at a cheaper price than the chemical supply companies.

    Re: Dry Washing

The problem with bubbling when dry washing is the time it can take and can vary considerably depending on the ambient temperature. You can test samples periodically for methanol but you gotta make...

    Re: Dry Washing

I've been drywashing for about 2 years now. Once you've drywashed you'll never go back to water washing. It's real simple but rather me go into detail here go to biodiesel infopop and look up "GL's...

    Re: came across some oil

I was recently offered 1000 litres WVO by a guy who said he wasn't going to make Biodiesel anymore. I forgot to ask him about the age of the oil until I picked it up and the drums were dated 2001....

    Re: BioDiesel Testing

Why bother testing further....biodiesel is well proven. The problem in Australia is predudice and ignorance throughout the motor trades industry against all biofuels.
    I always advise newcomers to...
  8. Re: Anybody know anything about transformer oil?

    Hello Tony
This guy is trying to sell 20,000 litres of this oil which he confirms comes from Western Power. Sounds dodgy to me I reckon it's probably an employee whose knocked it off and trying to...
  9. Re: Anybody know anything about transformer oil?

Thanks guys for your advice. I didn't realize it was potentially so dangerous so I'll stay clear of it now.
  10. Anybody know anything about transformer oil?

Hello everybody. Some guy is trying to sell me a few thousand litres of transformer oil which he assures me is vegetable oil. He has given me several litres as a sample and it kinda looks like new...

Good one Pyro and good luck with the letter. You've done a better job than I could have done.

    Re: BD Tax question

Yes, full testing of all parameters from a single sample is $2500 here. I should also mention it is also quicker getting your results back from the US than from within Australia.
    Even biodiesel for...

    Re: BD Tax question

When you submit your excise form you also submit at the same time your Clean Fuel Grant claim. One cancels out the other so no money actually changes hands. The catch is that every time you claim the...

Re: What do you think about jatropha oil?

Yes, Jatropha is already growing wild around Australia but you just can't cultivate it as it's an invasive plant. But I do believe that their are non- invasive species. Heck, growing sweet potatoes...

Re: What do you think about jatropha oil?

Back in 2005 I wanted to grow a crop of Jatropha at an Aboriginal settlement in North West WA. I thought it was a great idea as it grows in Semi-Arid areas, give the locals a cash crop and I would...
  19. Re: wotz the deal with W.A and Bio and,wvo suppliers?

Don't worry about the big boys taking the oil. Knock on the back door of any restaurant or pub and say G'day to the cook. Build a relationship with him/her, buy a meal off him or even offer him a few...

    Re: Making Biodiesel without Titration

Thanks for that Tilly. My WVO comes from differing sources and titrations vary wildly. Under such circumstances I guess it wouldn't be wise to use this method.
  21. Re: Biofuels push “a crime against humanity” ?

At least their is two of us Terry who has done a bit of research on this subject. I don't know why it's so difficult for most people for the penny to drop. The wonders of steady technological...

I have reprocessed in the past on several occasions using this method and it worked ok. Besides, Tilly taught me and his advise is normally pretty good.

Re: Can I reprocess if failed 27/3 test?

I would re-process using roughly 50ml/litre Methanol mixed with another 1 gram/litre Catalyst then remove the extra glycerine and then check it again with your 27/3 test.

Re: Sourcing Purolite PD206 or Amberlite

I've answered my own question. Ebay and Utah Biodiesel Supply both sell these dry wash products.
