Re: Thinking of having another go.

    Hi folks. :)
It has been a while. A long long story, but I now have a 1KZ-TE in a 1996 Surf. I absolutely love the vehicle. It already has a 110L aux tank which I have been successfully running a...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

It would seem we are onto it. The dino heated caused some lagging and it certainly affected the overall performance but nowhere near as bad as the blend containing ULP. Strange how this didn't happen...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Thanks folks. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks a million.

To the best of my knowledge there is no air in the lines. I've been down this track. The problem is when heat is applied....

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

I hadn't considered that before and you may well be onto something!

I'm not sure how I'd test it short of pulling the thing apart and maybe using air pressure with and without heat.

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Hi folks - I really appreciate the feedback don't get me wrong.:cool:

But - this is simply not a blending issue. The most recent blend I had was 15L veg with 1L ULP and about 50L Dino!! The...
  8. Re: Blending paint thinner with Vegetable Oil to Make VO Blend Diesel Fuel

Would be great to hear if anyone has done it!!

Personally, I'd be the type to wait until someone else had done it for 100,000km trouble free before I had a go! :D

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

    Great advice thanks!!

I'm led to believe that draining the tank is a fairly easy procedure on the cruisers. Will wait and see.

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Unusual outcome Craig. I have not been able to do anything for ages due to some fuel contamination issue. I have been going through filters like you wouldn't believe. I want to get to the bottom of...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Good question - but, I haven't necessarily found it. It is just highly suspected. Will test on the weekend and hopefully wont come back with a :o.

I suspected it earlier but dismissed it when I...

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Much appreciated.

This morning's experiment though, left little doubt and helped get closer to solving the problem. I had done the following before but...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Thanks - this would confirm why it does not happen on dino and also why is not every time you hit the throttle or go up a hill on veg blend. It is a very random thing and usually strikes after 20...

Thanks for the comments folks - some good ideas and debate.

I spoke to E Tolle last friday about this. He suggested the possibility of an issue whereby ambient temp fuel comes from the tank and...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

Thanks mate - so, do you reckon a pump might solve the problem fair and square? If so, I'll look into this one. I might ask around and see if there is a fuel pump that allows fuel flow...

    Re: Twin Filter Issues

I was thinking of a pump. I used a facet pump off an old Subaru on the Hilux system and it never let me down, even in the coldest moments.

The problem is - is there a pump that will allow...

Ok, as I have indicated elsewhere - I thought I had solved the problem. Well, I had to a degree but there was still evidence of minor fuel starvation. :(

What I did was start a process of...

Re: Settling time for a blend

Righto - you've won me.

How does this sound? (If I'm reading this right.)

    1. Rough filter to get rid of the worst bits
    2. Add ULP and let settle
    3. Refilter the best quality oil from...

I used to do similar thing Lozzar when I had the hilux.

What has me now thinking about this thread is the possibility that ULP can be used to further clean and dewater the oil.

Re: Settling time for a blend
