    Re: 1st time WVO blending

Yep the Discovery has a sedimenter after the tank then to a pre filter I installed then to the main filter and then the IP.
I filter my oil roughly through an old sheet, then settle for a few months...

    Re: 1st time WVO blending

In my Discovery 300TDI I run the factory sedimenter then to a prefilter much like the one Tony posted. I cut my WVO with around 10% petrol, this helps thin it a bit when filtering, I have run this...

Re: Home heating using Veggie Oil

Thanks for posting that. I've considered a similar option and may do it one day when I have some time.
Currently I mix oil (and some pretty nasty fatty stuff at that) with sawdust, pack it into...

    Re: COVID-19 hurting oil feedstocks?

Seems to be a bit about still, take away shops still busy around here. I've got a new job and I ride a bike to work now so hardly using any oil particularly that we can't go anywhere on the weekend.

Re: Collecting fuel on the move

Hardest part was blocking the holes in the basket, they are designed to separate large particles. I tried epoxy with mixed results but ended up using a large piece of heat shrink.

Re: Collecting fuel on the move

Thanks Tony, I'll grab one of those pumps.
My fuge is only small and work a treat, old Braun juicer that cost $20.

Re: Collecting fuel on the move

Interesting topic. I plan a big trip next year, I've made a small centrifuge from an old vegetable juicer but I'm yet to try it on the road.
What gear pumps are people using?

    Happy New Year all!...

    Re: Twin tanking and pumps

That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that. The mechanical pump on my 300tdi just died and it is a popular upgrade to go electric, the pumps are known weak point on these engines.

    Cheers!

    Twin tanking and pumps

Going to twin tank my 300TDI, these engines use a mechanical lift pump before the injector pump and I'm going to replace this with an electric pump (mechanical ones are prone to failure).
    I plan to...

    Fattimas 300tdi Discovery update

Just thought I'd let you know how it is all going with my Disco.

I'm up flow settling my oil in an old olive barrel, then adding 10% petrol settling again and then running through a centrifuge (a...

    Re: To convert or not

Different engine but I'm going to convert my Land Rover Discovery 300tdi.
It is getting harder to start in the cold Melbourne winter even with a 10% petrol mix and some extra diesel mixed in. I have...

Re: Hello from Melbourne and a few questions!

    Thanks Harvey,

I'll do the those test, good idea. Oil is pretty good quality so no dramas there.
I'd love to move up North!

Hello from Melbourne and a few questions!

    Hi All,

I've planned on going down the SVO/Blending route for a while but a change to my circumstances saw me move house and get rid of my oil stocks.
Anyway I'm now settled in my new place, got...

I have a around 100 litres of oil and about 10 litres of methanol to give away in Melbourne.
The oil is in large plastic drums and would need to be pumped out, not sure of the quality it has been...
