there could be water in the oil.
Action taken...confidence restored.
you haven't mentioned specifically your amount you started with (base amount), but my calc put it somewhere around 7.8.
How long did it stir for. A wise man once said ASTM grade fuel can be made...
You say Caustic removed this substance, did the biproduct of this cleansing process become milky white or sudsy? I'd say this is solid oil on the filter and you have created soap by adding caustic....
ANy updates on this? ANy one else have any other comments about Preggios. I have been offered a cheap one with low K's.
Doubt you'll get a response...

If this is your first batch, I could assume this is your first tilt at titration. 8 is very high. The highest I've come across was just under 4. Try starting over again with your titration, (ie...
That sort of plastic probably isn't the best to use with koh and methonol. In fact glass is a better vessel all together.
It could also be water or oil with water in suspension. Heating is the best way to see what is does and may reveal it was just cloudy oil, or oil and water which may seperate.
:D reminds me of my first coffee meltdown in a team meeting. all of the sudden the air left the room...meeting over...everyone got up and filed out of the room......what the hell just...
As a point of comparison, take your bio that you have air bubbled and settled for a week or so. Then take another batch that you have air bubbled for a few days THEN mist washed to allow the water to...
I dont think there are that many methods of making biodiesel. I think Tillys point was more about risk assessment.
I do a 1 litre test from the bottom of the reactor where the water would be if...
If your not careful Tilly you'll have some of the newer folk asking who or what is Neutral.
Hello Darwinians, I will be travelling to Broome mid to late January to visit a friend. I wanted to know if anyone is going there, knows anyone who is going there, or was willing to lend a reliable...
Or give the possum and accompanying juices to your local biodiesel mate who will use the lot. Possum included. Hmm maybe thats why the filters keep clogging???
motor manuals dont indicate flow either. just correct pipe size and pressure. flow is a natural byproduct of the former.
I think to be more scientific about it, get an oil pressure guage on the oil line to the turbo and get the 80 series motor manual and find out what the proper specs are for oil presssure at idle etc....
Was the turbo new or used.
Was an EGT guage fitted.
Oil changes at 5000 are good.
Do you use a turbo timer to cool the turbo before switching it off?
Check you oil lines to the turbo....
Err have a look in your motor manual...
Line 2 is coming from the water pump. Line 1 is returning to the radiator.
mixing or wvo and blends of biodiesel is akin to buying diesel from different petrol stations.
What size is the pump. IE litres / hour?
Sure sounds like you are involved. Personally I bubble wash and I'm sure that not all of the soap is removed. But I dont care. Last pull down of the hedd show complete combustion and the previous one...

The drying of the fuel refers to the process of removing excess methanol from the fuel. Which inturn allows more impurities to fall out of suspension. Of the two hundred litre batches I used to do,...
Is it KOH or NaOH. If its KOH what is the other 10%?
Thats a normalish price for NaOH. But extra ordinarily cheap for KOH, even for 5 years ago when I got started.
