is there any difference between biodiesel and methylated seed oil ?

Of that I am not sure. Vegetable oils are derived mainly from the seeds of crops (eg Canola, Linseed, Grape seed, etc). Vegetable oils can be esterified to make biodiesel, using methanol and a strong caustic as a catalyst (the use of other catalysts is also possible).

How is methylated seed oil produced?? I have googled it, but only the use of it in a herbicide application context, not anything on the production of it.
I would expect that it would not be cost effective to use it as a fuel.

Biodiesel does not evaporate as fast as petroleum diesel as it has fewer volatile components.

I did search for making methylated seed oils.
The only information I could locate was:
"Methylated seed oil (MSO) is a kind of fatty acid from seed oil esterified with methyl alcohol" from site: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3782475/

It is possible that MSO is in fact biodiesel, but we have noting to base the assumption on, other than the blanket statement quoted above.

I finally found the answer.
From this MSDS it says it is 80%- 100% methyl soy ester

There are at least 2 ways to make methylated seed oil . One is transesterification of vegetable oil with methanol using caustic as a catalyst . Another way is to make free fatty acids from vegetable oil , then under dry conditions , react methanol with the free fatty acids using a strong mineral acid as a catalyst (Fischer Esterification ). Biodiesel may be made with varying length carbon chain alcohols . Methyl alcohol is not the only option . I made methyl , ethyl , propyl and Isopropyl fatty acid esters . There's ethyl biodiesel , n-propyl biodiesel , isopropyl biodiesel and more , made in varying ways .
