    MUSSO- blocked fuel line

    G'day everyone,
The fuel line on my musso is just about completely blocked. I can just barely suck fuel through it or blow back to the tank with my mouth, This is before any filters and on the steel fuel line going to the tank.
    Has anyone experienced something similar?
I removed the fuel cap and that is not the problem
I do not believe there are any filters in the tank.
I also understand that to get to the tank feed there is an opening under the backseat.
If anyone has any knowledge I would love to hear them.

Hi Tilly, you are still kicking and not a COVID statistic yet, I see.
I have had the access to the tank sender open to check the sender low fuel light which was intermittent on my first Musso.
I cannot recall seeing a filter.
I consulted the parts list and have an image of the tank sender for you.Click image for larger version.

I recommend disconnecting the fuel lines from the tank sender and connecting your compressor to blow air thru the lines, to see if the problem is in the fuel lines or the sender.
Repeat with the fuel lines on the sender.

Be careful with the sender clamping ring as it is probably brittle after up to 20 years in use.

    G'day Tony,
Yes, Qld is about as safe as WA
    Thank you for your help.
The clamping ring was not wanting to turn but then I remembered my oil filter wrench that has three fingers pointing out and they automatically grasp the end of the spin-on filter. It worked perfectly for the ring clamp I held my breath but it eventually unscrewed.
It has a filter in the tank. You would not believe what the filter looks like
In fact the whole inside of the tank looks a bit scary- 15 years of veg oil oxidizing is not a pretty sight. Most of it seems stuck tight to the tank so I am just going to let it be
I removed the filter. pumped the tank out, filled with fresh fuel and put everything back together. I did give the fuel gauge sender a bit of a clean.
With any luck I will have another 15 carefree years.

    Tilly,
did you get a photo of the filter?
I use a prefilter (same as on my old 300D) to catch the worst of the cr@p from the tank.
With my Mercedes cars, there was an initial cleaning of the tank, which meant regular changes of the prefilter, but after a year of veggie use the prefilter remained clear.
The Musso and Rexton both need regular prefilter cleaning (at refueling time) and main fuel filter cleaning if engine power is not restored after cleaning the prefilter.
This is the prefilter I use. It is a mesh filter which can be washed out to remove most of the contaminants. The packet is for 10 of these. Cost is around $5 or $6 each.

    Re: MUSSO- blocked fuel line

    G'day Tony,
It appears to be a wire mesh immersion filter that slips on the end of the pick-up for big chunks.
Here is a photo of a new one I just located.
The more I think about it, the more I think I might try to clean it up and re-install it. That way no big chunks will be sucked up and block the fuel line.
