    Re: isopropanol

    Hi Vapor,

I used to use Isopropanol all the time and I used to get it from bunnings - a bit dearer than that though.

One of the fella's on here (I forget who it was) put me onto using normal old Methylated spirits and tumeric. works an absolute treat. a lot easier to get too.

give it a go - you wont look back.

The Tumeric spices it up a bit and goes well with the bitterness of the Metho.

        LOL

Maybe so, but I'd be worried about what it might titrate at.

I'm not sure if you remeber but when we got together last , we added tumeric to the Metho to see what it titrated to, then added the oil and performed another titration. when this is done it shouldn't matter what the Metho is like.

Denatured alcohol is used as a solvent and as fuel for spirit burners and camping stoves. Because of the diversity of industrial uses for denatured alcohol, hundreds of additives and denaturing methods have been used. Traditionally, the main additive is 10% methanol, giving rise to the term 'methylated spirit'. Other typical additives include isopropyl alcohol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, and denatonium.

              hope this helps.
Oh by the way , I've been told OJ and a squirt of vanilla on ice works better
