KOH base amount?

What do you use and do you adjust for purity?

The consensus is that around 5g of NaOH is the correct base amount to use per litre of oil. Since the ratio of the formula weights of KOH:NaOH is 1.4, is follows that you should use 7g of KOH. Most KOH flake (25kg bags) is supplied at around 90% purity. If so, you'd use (7/0.9) = 7.8g of KOH as your base.

I use a base of 7g/litre, but my KOH is 90%min purity, so if you work that out its 7.77g/litre, I just round up to 8g/litre, never had an issue yet....
